Globally Scaling Sustainability in Retail Stores

These stores incorporate various sustainable features such as solar panels, water recycling tanks, energy-efficient appliances, low-emission materials, and eco-friendly practices like composting and food donation.

Located in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, a 100-year-old house was turned into a new Starbucks café operating on 100% local renewable electricity. In addition, the store has a rainwater collection system in place for landscape irrigation and banquettes made from recycled wood.
A Better Cup for All By 2030, Starbucks has set an ambitious goal for their cups to be 100% compostable, recyclable, or reusable, with 50% recycled materials and 50% less virgin fossil fuel-derived sources. Embracing a circular economy, they champion reusables, increase recycled content in packaging, and reduce plastic in cups.
Recently, Starbucks became the first national coffeehouse in the U.S. to enable customers to use personal cups across all order channels, including drive-thru and mobile. As most Starbucks beverages are consumed on-the-go, this milestone offers customers the added convenience to opt for reusables.
